Founded in 2001, TANG CONTEMPORARY ART is Thailand’s flagship art gallery that has successfully introduced and promoted Chinese Contemporary Art through a string of exhibitions featuring highly established artists such as Feng Zhengjie, Yan Lei, Yin Zhaoyang and Liu Xiaodong etc. Subsequently, the organisation extended to collaborations with Asian contemporary artists which include Navin Rawanchaikul, Sakarin Krue-on and Manit Sriwanichpoom etc. Located in the basement of Silom Galleria Plaza, and with an area size of 330 sqm, TANG CONTEMPORARY ART- Bangkok is particularly airy and spacious. Designed to a bare essential to maintain a contemporary charm, with clean white walls and excellent lighting all help to create a magnificent space where artworks can be displayed at its best. The gallery has also won the readers poll of BK Mag for “Gallery of the Year” in 2007. And through one of our curated exhibitions, in October 2007, Fine Art magazine has also awarded Thai conceptual artist, Kamin Lertchaiprasert, ARTIST Of The Year for 2007.
TANG CONTEMPORARY ART - Beijing is housed in the famous art populace of 798 Dashanzi arts district. With a landmark size of 630 sqm, it consists of a main exhibition hall with two smaller interior spaces. Having voted consistently by the media as one of the top galleries in Mainland China, the gallery has initiated many groundbreaking exhibitions, group and solo, as well as overseas events such as China 21th Century – The Art of Identity & Transformation in Rome and Who Do You Think You Are? in Milan. To expand our operations, in April 2008, TANG CONTEMPORARY ART has also opened its third branch in Hong Kong, located along Hollywood Road in Central district.
While TANG CONTEMPORARY ART will be continuing to initiate and push the dynamism in Chinese contemporary art, we are also heading towards a broader ambitions to pursue an expansive interest in the rapidly developing world of Asian contemporary art, with an envision that the potential and vibrancy of artistic boundaries know no bounds and borders. With networks in three cities, the organization strives to develop and promote Asian contemporary artists in a global scenario.
TANG CONTEMPORARY ART responds and supports a range of exhibitions/projects from painting, sculpture, photography, installation, to new media and conceptual etc. Each has its own merit. More importantly, TANG CONTEMPORARY ART wants to encourage significant artistic visions that brim with imaginative vitality. TANG CONTEMPORARY ART will initiate a series of curatorial-led activities that encourage and identify imaginative and uncharted territories of art-making – to give an exhibition/project a proper breathing space it requires. It is a willingness to explore unusual avenues when selecting artists, themes, and subject matters. In step with the expanding growth of our business scope, TANG CONTEMPORARY ART also provides art consultancy in sourcing and management to corporate clients, cultural organizations, and individual collectors.
