Tang Contemporary Art is pleased to present at Art Basel Hong Kong recent works created by Chen Danqing, Heri Dono, Sakarin Krue-On, Qin Qi, Rodel Tapaya, Entang Wiharso, Yunizar, and Zhao Zhao.

Shifted, modified, or transferred elements amount to new relationships between status, figures, and objects. Chen Danqing and Qin Qi transform the classical elements into novel creations in their paintings. The respect for the multiple cultures, mythologies, and religions is the inspiration to Rodel Tapaya, Sakarin Krue-On, and Zhao Zhao’s art practice. Heri Dono, Entang Wiharso, and Yunizar are representational in terms of the burgeoning expressive Indonesian contemporary art whilst presenting acute cynicism and humor in their works.

The paintings, drawings, and relief on view give a unique insight into the work that each artist has created over the themes which emerge from this period of intense creative focus. “Shifted” presented by Tang Contemporary Art this year at Art Basel is a continued dialogue on the aesthetic impact and importance of Chinese contemporary as well as Southeast Asian Contemporary.
