Chen Yufan Solo Exhibition

 Chen Yufan

05.07 - 06.30. 2020

Bangkok

Tang Contemporary Art Bangkok is proud to present a major solo exhibition for Chen Yufan on May 7, 2020. This exhibition is an important overview of many years of Chen's work, showcasing some of his classic pieces, as well as his more recent mixed media and installation works. Becoming One, Real Facade, Ideal Place, Cut Landscape, Imprecise Landscape, Throw into the sky, 3998, and Source present one artist's multi-layered visual and spiritual realms, from form to media, from concept to method, and from material to space.

Constant changes and shifts in time and space and subtle observations and perceptual experiences within changing environments are sources for Chen Yufan's work. He was born in Putjana in Fujian Province, then he went to Fuzhou to study. Later, he lived and worked in Hangzhou and Shanghai, and in these journeys changes in time and space were not confined to a region; they also encompassed the past histories, real structures, and cultural pursuits of his surroundings. Finding himself in these environments, Chen has experienced and observed his own evolution: "This space is not simply physical; it is more of a psychological migration. The dimensions of physical space cannot be changed, but we attempt to change our own mental spaces.
